Two Epic Adventures, One Unstoppable Queen - Don Quijote Publishing
Queen Mariella and the Fable of the Peony
The story of “Queen Mariella and the Fable of the Peony” is a fictionalized tale of how ants help peonies blossom to be one of the prettiest and fullest flowers in the garden to herald the coming of spring. The text is written at a fourth-grade readability (Frye’s Readability) yet uses some challenging words to advance the young intermediate students’ vocabulary. Use of Spanish words in the text introduces readers to a bi-cultural, bilingual world we all need to learn to appreciate. Consequently, it would be great for bilingual or bi-cultural experiences. Another goal of the text is to help children better understand the value of character education and the importance of a nurturing love for one another and to be courageous enough to stand up for it. Its colorful pictures of flowers also introduce children to the world of gardening.

Queen Mariella and the Crow’s Message
The story “Queen Mariella and the Crow’s Message” is a companion book to “Queen Mariella and the Fable of the Peony”. The story follows the life and adventures of Queen Mariella and her two sons, Dulio and Bianco, who receives a message from their father, Javier. The text is written at a fourth-grade readability using Frye’s Readability; however, it can be used at the second through sixth-grade levels for character education. The use of Spanish words in the text introduces readers to a bicultural, bilingual world that we now experience. Consequently, this book would be great for a bicultural/bilingual experience. “Queen Mariella and the Crow’s Message” is a great story to help children and adults understand the value of character education and the consequences of bullying.

'Difference in people make the world a more vibrant place to live' - A vivid tale for kids
Grady Harp Reviewed in the United States“Delivered in a fashion that places Spanish words and phrases in context with the English storyline, MARIELLA AND THE CROW’S MESSSAGE places the principle characters in the form of ants and drones - an entertaining device that makes the story and the messages it relates even more valuable to the young reader.”
